FSCV- Fast Scan Cyclic Voltammetry
In Fast Scan Cyclic Voltammetry the voltage increases extremely fast from -400 mV to +400 mV. In this range, there is oxidation and reduction of neurotransmitters. A curve showing the oxidation and reduction points is produced. Both oxidation and reduction points are specific for each neurotransmitter. The changes in concentration of each neurotransmitter can be measured by comparing changes in the oxidation and reduction points before and after a trial. In this case amphetamine (which causes dopamine release) has been used. This causes an increase in the oxidation and reduction of dopamine, which shows that this neurotransmitter increased its concentration.
